Dr. Goetz M. Bendele announces break until 31 December 2022 from his office as CEO of SÜSS MicroTec SE / Dr. Bernd Schulte takes over the Management Board position for this period

Garching, Germany, October 14, 2022 – Today, the Supervisory Board of SÜSS MicroTec SE complied with the request of Dr. Goetz M. Bendele, Chief Executive Officer of SÜSS MicroTec SE, to temporarily step down as Member of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of the company for the period from 17 October 2022 to 31 December 2022. The reason for the temporary break is the serious illness of a family member. In doing so, Dr. Goetz M. Bendele is making use of Section 84 (3) of the German Stock Corporation Law (AktG). This statutory regulation, which went into effect in 2021 as part of the legislative procedure of the Second German Act on Equal Participation of Men and Women in Executive Positions in the Public and Private Sectors (FüPoG II), makes it possible for Members of the Management Board to temporarily step down from their position and completely detach themselves from the responsibilities associated with their mandate in the event that they become unable to execute their tasks.

Dr. David Dean, Chair of the Supervisory Board of SÜSS MicroTec SE, says, “We clearly wish to support Dr. Bendele during these difficult times and welcome the corresponding legal opportunities afforded by the German Stock Corporation Act. The Supervisory Board sincerely wishes him and his family all the best for the coming weeks and months.”

For the duration of absence, the Supervisory Board has appointed its member Dr. Bernd Schulte to the Management Board of SÜSS MicroTec SE, where he will also take over as its Chair. Dr. Bernd Schulte (60) worked for AIXTRON SE, a listed (MDax) provider of deposition equipment for the semiconductor industry, uninterruptedly from 1993 to 2021. In 2002, he was appointed to the Management Board of AIXTRON and was most recently responsible for the areas of Research and Development, Production, Procurement, Investor Relations, and Communications. After 19 years as member of the Management Board, the physicist left the company in 2021 at his own request after his contract expired. Through his work on the Supervisory Board of SÜSS MicroTec SE, Dr. Bernd Schulte is very familiar with the company.

Following his temporary role in the Management Board, Dr. Bernd Schulte will return to the Supervisory Board of SÜSS MicroTec SE.
